BC Hydro Rebates for Home Energy Upgrades
BC Hydro offers rebates and incentive programs that can help eligible British Columbia homeowners reduce the cost of energy-efficient home upgrades. For Coreline customers, the most relevant current programs include rebates for whole-home and partial-home heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, condo and apartment heat pumps, and eligible multi-upgrade bonuses. Standard Home Renovation Rebates generally apply to eligible homes primarily heated by electricity. Condo and apartment units have a separate program with different requirements and generally require pre-approval before installation. Program funding, rebate amounts, deadlines and equipment requirements can change. Homeowners should confirm current eligibility with BC Hydro before purchasing equipment or beginning work.
Current BC Hydro programs relevant to HVAC upgrades include:
• Whole-home heat pump rebate — up to $4,000 standard rebate. • Partial-home heat pump rebate — $1,500 standard rebate. • Heat pump water heater rebate — up to $1,000. • Condo and apartment heat pump rebate — up to $2,250. • Home renovation bonus rebates — additional incentives may be available when multiple eligible upgrades are completed. • Limited-time or community-based top-ups may increase the available amount for qualifying customers.
Some income-qualified households may qualify for enhanced CleanBC programs instead of standard BC Hydro rebates.
Eligibility
Eligibility varies by program. Standard Home Renovation Rebates generally require an eligible B.C. home primarily heated by electricity, a residential BC Hydro account or qualifying municipal utility account, eligible equipment, and installation by an appropriately licensed contractor.
Heat pump and insulation upgrades under the Home Renovation Rebate Program must be completed by a Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) member. Condo and apartment units use a separate rebate program and may require pre-approval.
Income-qualified households may qualify for different CleanBC programs and should confirm which program applies before beginning work.
